Alfred Ramirez

Mr. Ramirez is President of Diverse Strategies Now and a keynote speaker, trainer and facilitator for nonprofit and corporate organizations, educational groups (including universities and K-12 schools) and communities nationwide. Ramirez is known as an innovative & versatile leader who improves national, state, and local organizations and develops strategic programs among diverse socio-economic sectors. Ramirez’s expertise is in diversity inclusion and eadership, business and community development; and program/policy advice that often leads to systemic change. Ramirez honed his professional skills by working in diverse sectors of the workplace. He began his career as faculty adviser and assistant director of admissions and minority recruitment for Columbia University. Later, Ramirez was special assistant to Mayor Henry Cisneros of San Antonio, Texas, and a corporate recruiter and human resource specialist at Transamerica. He developed young minority leaders as managing director for INROADS Los Angeles. Ramirez also directed a $2-million Mattel Foundation initiative to involve parents and community members in their schools. He has worked as a principal consultant for diversity initiatives at ACT, Inc. Educational Testing.

As a public official, Ramirez worked at the highest levels of government. He served in the Clinton Administration as Associate Director in the White House Office of Presidential Personnel; Senior Advisor at the Corporation for National Service; and Executive Director of the White House Initiative on Educational Excellence for Hispanic Americans at the U.S. Department of Education.

More recently, Ramirez served as President of the Greater Quad Cities Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (GQCHCC), Group O Vice President of Government Relations and Diversity, and Director of Operations for the United States Hispanic Leadership Institute (USHLI).

Ramirez was selected as one of Hispanic Business Magazine’s 100 Influentials and one of the Des Moines Register Newspaper’s Top Influentials. He has a bachelor’s degree from Columbia University in Political Science and Urban Studies. Ramirez has done graduate work at the Bernard M. Baruch College, City University of New York in Public Administration.
